Meet Alissa Kristiansen

Alissa Kristiansen is the owner of Blue Rose Soap

Alissa Kristiansen loved to make home-made soap as a hobby. “I had enjoyed both the science and the artistry of making soap,” Alissa notes. In turn, she decided to take the plunge and turn it into a business.

Besides being able to do a job that often seems more like fun, Alissa also appreciates that she is able to have control over her work hours. It allows her to spend more time with her young son and be available for all of his activities. Alissa was raised in Vanderhoof but moved away for a few years, she returned in 2011 to raise her son, noting that Vanderhoof is a “family-oriented community.” She is happy that the community she loves has embraced both her and her business. During her down time, Alissa enjoys doing a variety of crafts or curling up with a good book. She also likes to get outside and go hiking and camping.

Creative. Natural. Beautiful.

Blue Rose Soap combines the science of soap making with the art of choosing fragrances and colours to create a beautiful, hand-crafted bar of soap. The company’s current line contains several varieties of soap including Lavender Spice, Ginger Lime, Cinnamon Sunrise and Red Apple. Owner and designer, Alissa Kristiansen, can usually be found at the local and regional Farmer’s Market selling her soaps. She hopes to expand her product line soon to include bath salts and bubble bath.
