Meet Swan Kiezebrink

Swan Kiezebrink grew up in a musical household and notes that music has been a central part of her life for as long as she can remember. She began learning to play the piano at the age of six and sang in choirs throughout her growing up years. After pursuing musical studies in her post-secondary years, she developed a passion for teaching music to others. She considers it a privilege to be able to inspire a love of and appreciation for music in her students, something she has been doing since she started Swan's Music Studio in 1990. She gets a deep sense of gratification at seeing her students grow and excel. Many, she notes, have gone on to win awards, competitions and to pursue their own careers in music.

Doing business in a small town allows Swan to be able to get to know her students and their parents better. "I can get to know the families I teach in a learning environment and support them in their musical journey," says Swan. She appreciates that life in Vanderhoof is less hectic and that the community is small enough that getting to know people is easy. Vanderhoof, she adds, is full of both recreational and social opportunities.

While music occupies a big part of her life and time, Swan also likes to spend time outdoors hiking and camping. Sometimes she also simply likes to curl up and get cozy with a good book.
