Meet Ed & Shirley Penner
Ed and Shirley Penner purchased the J & S Restaurant in 2001 and set about to take it to the next level. The couple produces their own German-style sausage from scratch using a secret family recipe passed down from Shirley’s grandparents. Their sausages, wareneki, as well as many of their desserts, are made-from-scratch in a factory right in Vanderhoof, something that Ed and Shirley take great pride in.
The Penner’s have seen a great deal of growth and success over their years in business. In fact, they outgrew their former location a few years after purchasing the business and moved to their current, larger, location in 2009. Ed and Shirley credit their regular customers and their loyal staff (some of whom have been with them for years) for their success.
Ed and Shirley feel very “blessed” to live in the community of Vanderhoof. According to Shirley, it is a wonderful place to raise a family, and now they are enjoying watching their grandchildren grow up in the community. Vanderhoof, she adds, is full of caring people. Ed and Shirley are grateful to the community of Vanderhoof, and try to give back regularly by donating to local events like the Fall Fair and local grad celebrations.
Original. Home-Made. Delicious.
